How to unpublish a page/template?

Need to take a page offline, whether it’s a Landing page you’re still polishing or a template you no longer use? In EComposer, the way you unpublish depends on the page type. A Landing page is hidden with its Page visibility setting, while a template (Home page, Product, Collection, Blog and so on) is unpublished with the Publish switch. This article shows you how to find your page type and unpublish it in just a few clicks.

1. Find out your page type

Landing pages and templates are unpublished in different ways, so it’s worth checking which one you have first. You can do it from the app or from inside the editor.

Step 1: In the app, go to Build and find your page in the Pages & Templates list. The Type column shows whether it’s a Landing & Pages item or a template such as Home or Product, and the Published or Draft label next to its name tells you if it’s currently live.

Step 2: Already in the editor? Click the page name in the breadcrumb at the top to open the page navigator. If the heading says PAGES, you’re on a Landing page. If it says HOME PAGES, PRODUCTS, COLLECTIONS, BLOGS and so on, you’re on a template.

2. Unpublish a Landing page

To take a Landing page off your store, you just need to switch its Page visibility to Hidden and save.

Step 1: Open your page in the editor and click the Publish button at the top right. The Save page window will open.

Step 2: Set Page visibility to Hidden, then click Save & unpublish. Your page is now hidden from visitors.

3. Unpublish a template

Templates, such as your Homepage, Product page, Collection page or Blog, don’t have a visibility setting. Instead, you unpublish them with the Publish switch.

Step 1: Open your template in the editor and click the Publish button at the top right. The Save template window will open.

Step 2: Turn off the Publish switch, then click Save & unpublish. Your template is now unpublished.

Changed your mind? Just click Publish again, turn the Publish switch back on, and click Save & publish.
