What is the difference between “Blog post” and “Blog post template”?

Many Shopify newbies can not differentiate between a “blog post” and a “blog post template” because they’re totally new to page structure of Shopify. We will go through some straight points to clarity this difference in Ecomposer.

1. Blog post

Blog Posts is an individual post that its content is totally built by you inside our Ecomposer editor.

You have to manually add Text, Image, Link, Column, Row elements,… from left panel to build all of the page content from scratch.

Publishing a new single Blog Post in EComposer = Creating a new single Post in Shopify. The only difference is Ecomposer editor has more powerful functions and features than Shopify editor. You can structure content differently for each post that impressives your visitors.

2. Blog Post Template

Blog Post template is a pre-designed layout that determines how your Shopify blog posts will appear on your online store. It’s like parent of Blog Post since this layout can rewrite layout of your other existing Shopify Blog Posts.

You don’t have to write content for this template, you just choose an existing post then preview its content. The app will render how it will show.

This is from where post content is rendered. Post has content built with Shopify editor already before so you just need to arrange elements in certain a layout for Blog Post Template

With Blog Post template, you can apply this layout to all Shopify Posts at a time. As a result, the layout will be the same but the content is dynamic per blog post.
Note: the template can not apply to the App’s blog posts
