Why am I still charged after closing my Shopify store?

Author: Anna Nguyen 17 views

This document explains why you may still see EComposer charges after closing your Shopify store and what you should do to avoid future charges.

Why does this happen?

If you are still charged for EComposer after closing your Shopify store, the only reason is that the EComposer subscription was not canceled before the store was closed.

Closing (deactivating) a Shopify store does not automatically cancel app subscriptions. If EComposer remains on a paid plan at the time the store is closed, Shopify will still generate the app charge according to the active subscription.

How to avoid EComposer charges when closing your store

If you plan to close your Shopify store, please follow these steps to avoid unexpected EComposer charges:

Step 1: Downgrade EComposer to the Free plan first: Before closing your store, open EComposer app and downgrade your plan to Free. Downgrading to the Free plan stops all paid subscription charges while still keeping the app installed. You can check this guide.

Step 2: Verify your billing status: Check Settings -> Billing in your Shopify admin to review any pending app charges before deactivating your store.

Step 3: Close your store: Once the EComposer subscription is canceled and billing is reviewed, you can safely deactivate your Shopify store.

Important notes

  • Charges generated before app uninstallation or store closure cannot be automatically reversed.
  • Shopify controls the app billing process. EComposer cannot charge your store directly after uninstallation.
  • Any refunds (if applicable) are handled according to EComposer’s refund policy.
